Andrea Murray is a local farmer, devoted mom, and community leader running for the Vermont State Senate to bring balance and common-sense leadership to Montpelier. Alongside her husband, August—a retired combat veteran with 33 years of service—they are raising their high-schooler son while restoring a 200-year-old homestead in Weathersfield, where they raise beef cattle and chickens. Andrea believes Windsor District deserves a Senator who shows up, listens, and fights for real relief for Vermonters being squeezed by rising taxes and a cost of living that fixed incomes simply can’t keep up with.
Born into a military family and raised overseas during the Cold War, Andrea developed a strong appreciation for freedom and democracy from an early age. Her professional journey reflects a life defined by service. She has worked as a Respiratory Therapist on life-saving medical code teams, spent over two decades in banking and auditing, and is a small business owner, giving her both a caring heart and a disciplined, professional eye for fiscal oversight. In her community, Andrea currently serves as a Justice of the Peace, member of the Development Review Board, the Veterans Committee, and several local volunteer organizations. She has a long history of local civic work, including volunteering to prepare taxes for soldiers overseas, building credit counseling programs for young service members, and founding a volunteer group to ensure hospice patients never had to face their final moments alone. After returning to Vermont, Andrea and her husband made serving their community a priority. They opened their home to foster children from across Vermont who needed a safe place to land—sometimes for a week, sometimes much longer. Several years ago, one of those very special children became their son. That experience gave Andrea an even deeper understanding of the challenges many Vermont families face, including food insecurity. In response, the Murrays began producing surplus food on their farm to donate locally. In 2025 alone, they donated more than 17,000 servings of beef, poultry, and eggs to local food shelves, helping provide nutritious food to neighbors throughout their community. Andrea is not a career politician; she is a neighbor who understands the heavy weight of Vermont’s soaring cost of living because she lives it every day. Her dedication in the Senate will be no different. She will work to fix what's broken, maximize efficiency and demand we reduce spending everywhere possible.
