Bruce Post for Representative

 

Life-long Royalton Post Farm resident, Bruce is one of few Vermonters who can say they’ve lived on the same property their entire life. Born at Gifford Hospital in Randolph, VT, he attended South Royalton schools and then Vermont Technical College (known today as Vermont State University - Randolph Campus) graduating in 1977 with a degree in Dairy Management. Bruce and his wife, Dale, have six adult children and eight grandchildren. Today they own, and continue to operate, Post Farm. The farm supplies raw milk, vegetables, hay and occasional timber to neighbors and local businesses. Bruce has also been a motorcoach operator for over 30 years, a job where people skills matter. Bruce grew up watching his dad and neighbors work hard to create a tough (but good) living, working the land. The dairy business and other small businesses and forestry operations created a solid, local community. He believes farming and forestry operations are still critical to Vermont’s economy. Market forces and government regulation have made these operations difficult, if not impossible, without extensive debt and expansion. Bruce has said “I believe Vermonters need a voice in saying what we want for our land. We need to not let outside forces control what we do with our property. Some of those forces aren’t necessarily outside. We need good schools but they can't be such a huge percentage of our state budget which currently drives up property tax rates. (^40%) We need common sense budgeting and auditing. We need to know our money is well spent.”
